This area of Northern Patagonia is home to one of the largest concentrations of volcanoes in the world. A route that takes us along the base of five of them is undoubtedly an unforgettable experience.
The Mocho, Choshuenco, Villarrica, Quetrupillán, and Lanín volcanoes, with their spectacular conical shapes, are the constant guardians of this incredible cycling journey.

The Experiences

Explore the land of volcanoes, enjoy their conical silhouettes, and discover their traces in every inch of the terrain traveled.
Travel through the heart of the Valdivian rainforest, surrounded by dense forests and ancient giant araucaria trees.
Cross the Andes Mountains twice by bike and enjoy the cuisine of the Pacific Ocean.

Itinerary

Previous Day: Meeting in San Martín de los Andes.
Meeting with the guide to test the bicycles that will be used and finalize the details of the journey.

Day 1 | San Martín de los Andes – Pucón
The journey begins with a transfer of approximately 100 km to the entrance of the National Park, where the cycling stage starts. After a few kilometers, a stop is made to complete migration procedures.
Once on the Chilean side, the route continues with a long 30-kilometer descent on an asphalted road. The ride then continues onto a gravel road with little traffic, where the landscape becomes more humid and lush, featuring wide rivers and vast green meadows.
As the route approaches Pucón, Villarrica Volcano comes into view on the left, with its smoking crater marking the final stretch of the day.

Day 2 | Pucón – Pucón – Caburgua Lake Area
Ride This day is dedicated to exploring the Caburgua Lake area along secondary gravel and paved roads, completing a circuit of approximately 65 km.
The route explores the surroundings of Pucón via less-traveled paths, crossing native forests, rural areas, and some of the most representative landscapes of the Araucanía region. During the day, there is also the possibility of visiting one of the area’s thermal parks.
Suggested alternative activity for this day: Ascent of Villarrica Volcano.

Day 3 | Pucón – Panguipulli
This will be a more relaxed day, mainly traveling along paved roads. The day begins with an approximately 40 km transfer to the starting point of the ride. From there, the route follows the shores of Lake Calafquén heading west until reaching the banks of Lake Panguipulli.
The day ends at a hotel located on the lakeshore, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings.

Day 4 | Panguipulli – Huilo Huilo
After a restful night, the day begins riding along the shores of Lake Panguipulli. As the route progresses, increasingly open views of the Mocho and Choshuenco volcanoes unfold.
In the afternoon, a winding road surrounded by dense vegetation leads into the Huilo Huilo Reserve, where the remainder of the day is spent.

Day 5 | Huilo Huilo – San Martín de los Andes
The day begins with a descent of approximately 5 km to Puerto Fuy, where passengers board a boat for a two-hour navigation across Lake Pirihueico, completing the lake crossing between Chile and Argentina. After the navigation, the cycling route resumes towards the migration checkpoints.
Once formalities are completed, the journey continues along the shores of Lake Lácar, leading back to San Martín de los Andes.
